dikt cymbal was developed in the sickbed, where a notebook initially filled with telephone scribbles, was the basis for a series of cut-up text based works reflecting on bodily experiences of information technology vis-à-vis chronic illness.
The writing practice using the pseudonym Diktgymnasiet was started out of necessity, a few years ago when I got sick with post-viral illness. Where the writing functioned as a coping mechanism to the fundamental changes to my life inflicted by chronic illness. Of course, the illness also affected my art and writing practice, in example, I wasn’t able to read or write properly due to severe cognitive dysfunction. These activities are still only possible within a very brief timeframe. So if reading and writing isn’t a cognitive possibility, what does this mean for the writer?
Biography
Diktgymnasiet is a poet/artist based in Stockholm. Their work was recently published by the journal Addenda in Copenhagen, the online journal Scrypth(.com) in Oslo, and exhibited/performed at Alta Art Space in Malmö and The National Poetry Library at the Southbank Center in London.
